The Extreme series is Vinotheques' highest end, professional series cooling unit utilizing state of the art, high quality components. The system is designed for:
- Powerful Operation.
- Efficiency.
- High reliability.
- Longevity.
- Excellent performance in a wide range of working environments.
Superior Operating Flexibility:
- In hotter climates where outside temperatures can be over 110°F.
- In cold climates where winter prevents the units from operating effectively.
- In limited spaces where ventilation is a problem.
- Perfect for ducting and installed into a remote installation.
- The Extreme Series wine cellar cooling units are designed to operate effectively in environmental conditions that cause traditional cooling units to fail.
High Quality Components
- Heavy duty coils.
Custom made coils have been designed to maximize efficiency within the space available. The coated evaporator coil will assure a long life against any corrosive environments such as the acidic CO2 gases given off during the barrel aging process of making wine. - Advanced blower system.
Extensive research has been made to source the best possible fan systems for moving air effectively around a cellar and through a duct system in order to maximize performance. These blowers have undergone extensive testing to assure they will stand up in the long run.
- High efficiency refrigerant metering system.
Most refrigeration equipment comes with a set system for metering refrigerant based on the environment the unit is designed to operate within. Our system adjusts to the demand of the environment it is working within resulting in superior performance and longevity.
Sophisticated Electronic Control System
- The control system is designed to maximize efficiency by constantly monitoring the performance of the unit and make adjustments as needed to the changing environmental factors which can adversely affect the unit's performance.

Electronic Controls
- Temperature Control System.
The thermostat control system features heavy duty circuitry which stands up to power surges which can damage the system. The thermostat also features our liquid measuring probe which senses the actual wine temperature to maximize efficiency. The thermostat is preset from the factory to 55°F, but can be adjusted to any temperature between 50°F and 65°F. The digital read-out displays the temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius (for our international customers).
- Safety Mode Indicator
If the cooling unit activates one of the safety features in order to protect the system from damage or failure, a red indicator light will illuminate on the control panel. This is designed to notify the owner that a detail associated with the proper installation of the unit may have been overlooked or that a discrepancy within the current set up exists. To reset, turn the power “OFF” and then back “ON”.
Designed for High reliability and longevity
- High Pressure Shut Off
The automatic high pressure shut off feature is designed to protect the compressor from excessive heat and subsequent damage. This protects the system in instances where there is obstructed air flow as a result of dirty filters, kinked ducting, or inadequate ventilation.
Low Ambient Control System
This will allow the system to operate in cold environments where the exhaust portion (backside of the unit) is going to be exposed to air temperatures as low as 0°F. The controls allow the cooling unit to build up the appropriate pressure and heat needed to operate effectively.
- Anti-frost Control
This control feature will allow the unit to operate at maximum efficiency as the cellar cools to the appropriate set temperature. Therefore cooling the cellar as quickly and effectively as possible while maintaining the appropriate humidity levels without frosting up the evaporator coil.
Advantages of a Self Contained System
There are several advantages in selecting a self contained unit for cooling your wine cellar.
- Easy Installation.
This system does not require installation by a professional refrigeration technician. Therefore, installation costs are reduced. - Eliminates Complications.
The need to run tubing through the house and the potential for leaks to occur at the fittings is eradicated.
- Easy Maintenance.
Just vacuum coils and change filters (see page 31 of owner's manual).
Excellent Performance in a Wide Range of Installation Environments
- Through the Wall
Comparable to the WhisperKOOL XLT series. - Fully Ductable System.
The ventilation system is ideal for ducting. The optional collars fit standard ventilation ducting allowing the installer to vent air to and from the unit for optimum performance (please see specifications for details).
- Outside the Cellar
With ducting to and from the unit to the cellar in a variety of configurations. Resulting in creating a virtually noise free cellar for entertaining and enjoying your investment.
- In the Cellar
Run exhaust ducting up the wall while hidden in cabinetry.
|
|
Through the Wall

- The unit can be mounted through the wall for simple installation.
- Extreme fits the same opening as the XLT series for replacement.
|
|
| |
Ease of installation
- Comes with removable and adjustable flange kit for easy installation.
- Can be mounted from the exhaust room into the cellar.
- Can be mounted from the cellar into the exhaust room
|
|
|
Ducting the exhaust

|
- Venting the heat away from the rear of the unit is the most critical and overlooked challenge with self contained cooling units.
- Ducting the exhaust side to a separate area will maximize performance.
- Image shows ducting the exhaust into a ceiling area.
|
| |
|
Fully ductable system

|
|
Attic mounted system
- Unit can be mounted into an attic space.
- Ducting into (cold air) and out of (return air) the cellar on the evaporator side of the cooling unit.
- Ducting air to the condenser intake from an adjacent room (must have fresh air source).
- While ducting the condenser exhaust (hot air) out of the attic to the outside.

|
|
Mounted in adjacent room
- The unit can be mounted in an adjacent room and ducted into the cellar.
- In this scenario, customer must purchase the remote control unit so the controls can be mounted in the cellar.
- By utilizing a few 90 degree ducted elbows, the units noise will be diminished considerably offering the quietest operation.
- It is critical to the performance of the unit that the adjacent room has ventilation and a fresh air intake to allow the heat produced on the condenser side to dissipate effectively.

|
|
Remote control option
- Used when mounting the cooling unit in an inaccessible area.
- Bottle probe must be installed in the cellar.
- Comes in 20 or 40 foot cable lengths.
- Remote is offered as part of a system and cannot be added after the fact.

|
|
Ducting details
- Q: How long can the duct be?
A: The longer the duct work, the more air is restricted and air flow reduced.
We recommend 25 feet of flexible duct work to and from the unit as the maximum length.
- Q: What size ducting should be used?
A: 4000 Extreme series 8” ducting to and from the unit.
8000 Extreme series, 8” or 10” ducting to and from the unit.
|
|
Ducting questions :
- Q: How many 90 degrees turns can be used in the duct?
A: 90 degree bends will slow airflow. We recommend as few as possible, but you can use two or three on each side.
- Q: What kind of ducting should be used?
A: Use rigid or flex ducting. Preferably rigid on 90 degree bends to avoid kinking the duct. Use Insulated ducting for evaporator. Use Non insulated ducting for condenser.
|
|
Exterior grill (optional)
- Required when the condenser side is exposed to the outside elements.
- Removal of standard grille is necessary.
- Simple to secure using 4 screws provided.
- Space available for mounting condensate line and outside electrical cord.

|
|
How much noise does the unit make?
- 68 decibels at three feet directly in front of the unit
- Quietest when remote mounted with ducting through at least one 90 degree turn
Warranty
- Standard Two years parts, labor and shipping.
- Factory replacement will be sent out if a problem occurs under warranty (certain procedures apply).
- Installation and removal are not covered under warranty.
- Please refer to complete warranty located in the owner's manual.
- Extended warranty available!
Extended warranty
Extend your warranty another two years for a total of four years, at no additional cost By:
- Completing an installation questionnaire. To assure all aspects of installation are done correctly
- Send in pictures showing the proper ventilation of the exhaust. Seeing is believing
|
|
Condensate management
- These units are more powerful than the XLT series, therefore they will initially generate larger volumes of condensate.
- Too much for a heater system to handle in high humidity areas.
- Therefore as a safeguard, the drain-line must be utilized.
- Optional condensate pump available.
